I Paul, You don't know me but I applied to Midtown Festival of The Arts for 2011 only to find out the show was cancelled. I have spoken to several people about a refund that were involved in this…Continue

I remember when I "thought" making a living as a full-time 2-D artist was tough...that was three years ago. Just got back from FLA where three days produced 0 sales, last year $4K. The organizer…Continue

Newbies, before you spend a ton of money applying to shows and doing "dog" shows, remember, there is always next year. When in doubt, walk a show look at a show and then decide if you want to apply.…Continue

I detest going to a show where the organizers don't come by the booth and introduce themselves. And, there are quiet a few of them. It makes the whole thing so "dirty." Organizers organize, they are not in charge of results. Win, lose or draw, they do their best, at least have the guts to face your clients (the artists).
Well, that said. last week was Magic City, kudos to Eileen Kuntzman, she was everywhere, at the end of the show she even turned up to help my wife and I load…

What is anybody doing besides Howard Allen in July?

I just spent 1.5 hours trying to be compliant with the tax situation from Bayou City. Be sure you are well medicated before attempting to deal with these people. They have a mandatory system where if you fail to report any sales on a 1/4ly basis, you will be fined $52! One and a half hours getting set up only to have the built in calculator not work. Wow. My guess is that a lot of artists get the number, and cancel the account and Texas doesn't get their taxes?

I am set up as a S corp, virtually no inventory/invoicing/etc. issues. I am looking for some software i.e. intuit that would make it easier to file annual tax returns, anybody got any ideas? Thnx in advance.
Jim Kransberger said… Need info on the WhoHaDaDa group. Is anything "active" left of this association? My work parallels that organization. As a Asheville resident, I am having lunch with Bob Sevens on Tuesday . . . he said we should get together early next week, but hasn't replied to my email offering two locations. Have also talked with Chris Hubbard. Same that the WhoHaDaDa site has gotten dusty; and, most of the links broken. I send an email to the site (you?) and never got any answers. Since this topic is not Art Fair Insiders oriented, you might want to email me off line.
Are you planning on being at the Who-Fair? I not showing but hope to attend.
Thanks for your help.
Jim
