We attended the Gilmore Shows, Inc Craftsman's Classic in Columbia SC March 2-4, 2012. Load in and out was fairly easy with parking just feet from the door. The entrance we used was a tight fit (standard door width) so we had to be careful how the hand truck was loaded. Friday was painful. I did not talk to a single artist that had much in the way of sales. Saturday was better. Nothing to be excited about but at least getting closer to covering expenses. By the close on Sunday we…

Our first show of the year was February 10-12 at Springtime in the South at the convention center in Savannah, GA hosted by Carolina Shows Inc. The crowds were there - as usual for a show put on by the Hunt family. Thankfully it was rather cold outside so folks might as well come to a fun indoor event. It seemed to be feast or famine from what I observed. The booths across from and next to me did not seem to fare so well. The metal bird hangers were seen passing my booth on a regular…

For the first time since doing art shows we are considering doing a circuit rather than coming home between each event. Surely (knocking on wood) I really don't have to worry about this (yeah right) but how do you handle drying or taking care of a tent that got wet when you are staying in hotels between shows? TIA.

3rd annual Briarpatch Festival in Eatonton, GA is a down home community event. There were good improvements over last year in layout and about 100 booths. Katy Smith, Manager, Eatonton Mainstreet is an energetic and engaging person. Only 30 minutes from home this is another advertising opportunity for me and may have led to at least a couple commission opportunities. The A&C range from easy on the pocket items to higher end products which works well for this community. The shoppers…
