"I did indeed get the tent. I'll get plenty of time to practice putting up and taking it down now that the outdoor season is pretty much (well, make that totally) done. It looks great, though. Thanks."

Louis Williams replied to John Tunney's discussion High End EZ Up Tents
"Well, Karole, you convinced me. I ordered the Encore II. I love that it has an awning...and forget about putting that out front. I'll put it in the back so I can sit in the shade. That's a really good deal...with free shipping! Thanks."

Bailey's Harbor, a wonderful place...and well run.

What are the best things about art fairs
The chance to meet people who enjoy wood and talk about woodturning and the process...as well as their favorite woods and styles.
Best show ever and why
Wausau: Well run, sophisticated buyers, wonderful location.
Worst show ever and why
Bayfest:
Not a place to sell art. People go there to have a fun amusement ride, listen to music and drink good beer. Nothing wrong with all that, it's just that does not make it a good place to sell art.

Good for you! I have found it the best deal money wise, and it is also the most convenient for those of us doing our booths alone. I get mine set-up, walls, stakes and all in under 35 mins (I admit it takes me a good 10 minutes just to get it out of my trunk!)but I love the fact that I can do it by myself.
Tearing down actually takes me longer, but the more you do it the quicker it gets. And the large dog stakes and ratcheting tie downs were a godsend at the week long fair I did in August, when a freak storm blew through- thunder, hail, rain, and wind gusts-lasted about an hour, but no problems! They worked like a charm. I think I may use your idea next season- put the door and awning on the back, for a shaded area for me!
I have found that if I get all the sides looped on before extending the legs, I don't have to get up and down on the stool. Then I zip up, get the legs all extended to the height I need, make sure everything is right and tight, all the way around, then stake it down. I only use the ratcheting tie downs if inclement weather/wind is expected, or if its a multi-day event. The only issue I have had is the zipper on the split panel for the door- with repeated use it weakens and splits. Hope to invest in some more heavy duty sides this winter, with metal zips. That will correct that problem. And I also tumbled to the fact that with some creative use of bungie cords, I can put a fan or two up in middle "rafters", angle one towards my customer area, the other towards me, and keep fairly comfortable in hot summer weather. Hope this will give you some ideas for your next outdoor show season! Have a good Holiday show season!
