Linda Rose replied to Peter Geiger's discussion Do Art Fair Tents Have to be White? What if they aren't?
"Remember that the sunlight will filter through the colored tent and make everything in your booth that color. We saw this at a large outdoor show that had a huge yellow & white striped tent for the artists to set up in. It colored everything…"

"Agreed! But that's also why juries need to have more than just "ivory tower" judges. Academics may look like good judges on paper, but most have no experience with what's out there in the real world.  "

Fall Colors Fine Art & Jazz Festival - Stillwater MN - Oct 2 & 3

Finally! Our last outdoor show of the year! This was our very first show in Minnesota, in the lovely riverside (St. Croix) community of Stillwater. The show was moved from the very underwater (flooded) river bank park to a nearby downtown parking lot. About 50 artists were in attendance, although it was promoted as 75-80. This juried show was a little heavy on dichroic glass jewelers, and light on potters, but otherwise had a good mix. We sell hand dyed & decorated silk scarves and…See More

What are the best things about art fairs
The artists. I really enjoy seeing the wonderful things people have created. I have a soft spot for pottery and fiber artists.
Best show ever and why
It's always nice when you have lots of buying customers! So it's a tie between Appleton's Art in the Park and Green Bay's ArtStreet.
Worst show ever and why
Wisconsin Dells after the summer tourist season. We were at a two-day show with a beer tasting & music tent. The drunks were dancing on top of the port-o-potties. Did not make even a single sale all weekend.
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
Saw the site when googleing potter Peggy Dalberto. (I wanted to buy some more of her pieces and had not seen her at any shows this year yet.)

Warrens Cranberry Festival (WI)- September 24-26 - We were warned & we still went ...

Whenever we asked any other artists about Warrens Cranberry Festival we got mixed reports. If you're not familiar with this event, it's touted as the world's largest cranberry festival and boasts "2010 will mark the festival's 38th year. Since the first festival in 1973, attendance has grown from 3,500 to over 110,000 each year. Cranfest features over 850 arts & crafts booths, 350 flea market booths and 100 farm market vendors." Yep - 850 booths!… Continue

Holy Hill - Hubertus WI - Sept 18 The clouds parted...cheesecake was served...

The Holy Hill Art Fairs have been around as long as I can remember - and I'm not young. I remember going to one when I was in High School - way back when. So my artist daughter & I thought we'd try one - THE 36TH ANNUAL HOLY HILL ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR. The date worked for us, it's less than two hours from our home, the jury fee was low $10, and the 10x10 booth fee was $150. They touted "230+ Artists & Craftsmen Presenting Their Work in a Natural… Continue
