Lila replied to Linda R. Wurtzel's discussion 'O2 Absorbers for Sterling Silver' in the group Jewelry Genies
In doing a little research there seems to be two types, those that absorb oxygen (using iron oxide) and those that absorb moisture (silica). There is a website:…

Lila replied to Linda R. Wurtzel's discussion 'O2 Absorbers for Sterling Silver' in the group Jewelry Genies
Hi Linda, I too have heard that the little packs found in vitamin bottles help prevent tarnish. I have started to collect them from my vitamin bottles, but have not yet used any for jewelry. I would also be interested in knowing if they work and how…

Lila replied to Paula Galle's discussion 'Display tables' in the group Jewelry Genies
I have 2 6' tables and one 4' table. All of them fold in half and are easy to carry and store. I think they are the same brand as yours, Lifetime. The 6' tables I purchased online years ago before they were available in stores. I…

Lila replied to Connie Mettler's discussion 'Please wish Happy Birthday to AFI and Connie!'
Thank you, Connie, for setting up such a fantastic resource. The information from this site is gold for serious art fairers (is that even a word?) I really appreciate the work you have put into the site. I hope you get enough pledges to keep you…

Lila replied to Amy Palmer's discussion 'tool for wireworking - what is it called, where do I find it...' in the group Jewelry Genies
Why would you use a fish hook sharpener? Wouldn't that SHARPEN the wire? I just did a quick search and the description is that they sharpen hooks. No, I could see using one for making pin backs. That would be a good idea.

Lila replied to Amy Palmer's discussion 'tool for wireworking - what is it called, where do I find it...' in the group Jewelry Genies
Hi Amy, The tool you are looking for is a "Cup Bur". I have one, but rarely use it. I find that diamond files do a better job. However, if you are like me, and need to have every tool in the known universe for wirework, then here are two…

Lila replied to jodie gillotte's discussion 'Tents' in the group Jewelry Genies
Hi Jodie, Some shows require a white tent, so you may as well get a white one. I bought my tent 3 years ago from Sam's Club for $200. It is an EZup that comes with an carrying case and sides. It is waterproof. This is definitely a cheaper…

Lila commented on Connie Mettler's blog post 'Please talk amongst yourselves'
Connie, Is there any way to know how many members have signed off due to being offended? The number may be rather small and, as someone else here has mentioned, some of us enjoy robust debate. It can open the mind to new ways of thinking. You may…

Lila replied to Angel White's discussion 'Planning my booth - help!' in the group Jewelry Genies
Toni, Prices are hidden, not because the price is unfair, but to get the customer to ask about the piece and it's price. It creates an opportunity to have the customer handle the piece and therefore they are more likely to buy it. Since most of…

Lila commented on Connie Mettler's group 'Jewelry Genies'
I always put the piece in a cotton filled box (of appropriate size), put it in a small bag with my business card and the receipt.

Lila replied to Amy Palmer's discussion 'custom orders' in the group Jewelry Genies
Hi Amy, If the beads are not something that you would normally buy, I would definitely charge for the whole strand. Even if it is just for a pair of earrings. I would also ask if she wants a necklace or bracelet to go with the earrings, if there is…
