Any opinions on these shots? First time to try and jury in to jewelry with my wood art. Mostly have done boxes in the past. Would like to jury in to both categories. Does it hurt or help to show a few against a white cup just to give a little context. Note that most of these have not been cropped square to the zapplication 1920 pixel standard yet. Thanks for comments.…See More

Kevin Williamson replied to Connie Mettler's discussion What do artists wish art fair directors knew about jurying?
"I was in a show this weekend and I never even saw the awards judges. That doesn't mean they didn't come by, but I sure never saw any clipboards. Makes you wonder how the awards are really determined at times."

Kevin Williamson replied to Connie Mettler's discussion What do artists wish art fair directors knew about jurying?
"Excellent idea. I do artistic wood boxes as well as wood jewelry. Since most shows see that as separate it would be nice to know which category my odds are best in."

Sorry if I'm doing this the wrong way - I'm a neophyte to this kind of communication!

I'm answering the note you sent on SDC to me. You will have a WONDERFUL time there! The people are genuinely cheerful and fun to deal with and the crowds are always good! MOST of the other artists are fun to be with too. Some are a pain, but that happens everywhere. Human nature.

You'll find it a generous venue. Your product is wonderful and innovative. If your pricing is right you should do VERY well!

I make scrimshaw for boxes. I might have to get with you for box bases. I like smaller ones, flat or recessed. What would you charge? Don't need the inside finished as I like to line them myself. But I'm no woodworker and so that is my interest. Or - if you ever are interested in ivories for your boxes, let me know. I use mammoth, fossilized walrus and some antique elephant like piano keys. Plain un-worked or illustrated.

My work is oil-colored and so is not the typical black and white. The Pacific Rim version of the art form. Have a great day!
