Seeing people smile
Best show ever and why
Live Oak Park Fair in Berkeley, California. It's a small show in an even smaller neighborhood. The folks loved my work, and I sold over 80 pieces with an average price of about $65 at the time, inflation has driven that higher now.
Worst show ever and why
Washougal Days. This was actually the worst in sales at $20 but the best in that "Bennie" the cat found us and made my wife very happy.

What Art They Smokin'

I like being an artist and everything that goes along with our career.  It's my belief that its the pioneer spirit that lies within us that causes us to chart a new course every day of every week of every month of every year.  We're the ones that would have traveled the Oregon trail east toward the promised land.  We roll the dice and take our chances that are creations are going to keep us in beans and tequila, although I'm finding a taste for a nice porter beer now and then.  Now for the…

Winterfest - Purdy, Washington

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 1:02am 3 Comments

Man do I miss those warm winter Florida days, but my wife and I decided to come home to Vancouver, Washington for the winter and I'm off doing some northwest shows.  Over the next few weeks, I'll be updating posts on several shows.  So let's talk about Winterfest. The show is held in two gyms at Peninsula High School in Purdy, Washington.  This is a community about six miles north of the very affluent Gig Harbor, Washington.  The show is put on by the band as a fund raiser…

OK, here's one for the west coast gang.

The Holiday Food and Gift Festival in Tacoma, Washington just celebrated their 29th year last Wednesday through Sunday (you read that right folks - five days).  It's held in the Tacoma Dome and both are an institution in this city.  It's been since the late 90's since I've been here, so I'm going to share the HFGF past, present, and future.

Past

Back in the 90's, there would be several thousand…

I just ran across this old blog entry as I was working through my comments section.  Interesting enough, there was a comment from a Connei Mettler there.

This post is still relevant today as it was in 2009.  May I wish all of my friends a great continuing year!

Hi Joe, just found out that Candy Dance near Reno is accepting apps again, we were thinking about combining that with the Los Altos Fall festival for a road trip. Any thoughts or feedback on either of those shows?

Thanks

Thanks Joe, maybe we'll meet at one of the shows in CA sometime in 2012, we do plan to spend May and September in CA.  Currently our only OR shows are Astoria Wine and Seafood Fest in April and Hood River Harvest Fest in Oct. both of which have good track records for us.
