Rich Terry replied to Joan Parker's discussion Little Falls Arts & Crafts Fair Sept 12-13 Minnesota Any Advice???
"I did Little Falls in 2010 and although I did OK on sales I was not impressed with the venue. I was in the parking lot just west of the court house.  I understand they added more spaces on the west side of the river staring last year. The…"

"The sales vary widely depending on location. I was in a parking lot next to the porta potties, a place no one should have been assigned. Most customers missed this area completely. Was not worth the time or expense unless you are assigned to a solid…"

Holiday Market, American Club, Kohler Nov 19-21

Anyone who has done this show in the past 3 years?  I did it 10 years ago and it was great but that was the "old economy."  I did get a preliminary acceptance.  Booth fee is anywhere from $400 to $750 so I am looking for good advice on this one.  I can commute and not have to pay out for hotel but it is about 65 miles away if I want to cut down on expenses.  Let me know your experiences.  Also, new coordinator this year.  Thanks.  Wishing everyone a great rest of the year!

Walker Display Picture Hanging System

I purchsed the system about 5 years ago from another artist (been away from the art scene due to health and job transfers) and want to use it at a Sept outdoor artfair with an EZ up tent.  Anybody use this? Any tips?  Took it out today and put it together - will be hanging wooden framed art work.  How can I stabalize the fiber glass rods that han vertically from the aluminum molding?  Thanks for any input you can give me  -- even if you tell me to put it away and forget about using it!  :)

"Due to such poor shows for me for 2009, (have done 4 outdoor this year), I came home on Monday from traveling to MKE from MSP for a show and cancelled out of two big shows in which I had been accepted: American Club Holiday Marketplace - Kohler…"

What are the best things about art fairs
I call it the Bedouin Experience. Setting up my tent at early dawn when it is fresh and cool. Displaying my art so customers are curious and come into my space. Helping my customers understand how my art will enhance their lives. Packing up the remaining pieces and taking down my tent and stealing away into the night.
Best show ever and why
Christmas Market American Club Koehler, WI because of the sales volume and demographics of the customers $$$
Holy Hill Hubertus WI Venue by huge cathedral on top of a hill in the rolling hills of SE WI. Artfair run by Monks, Nuns and church members. Fall event. Huge monied crowds.
Worst show ever and why
Custers Last Stand - I think it was Evanston, Illinois. The crowd consisted of many shirtless guys and Bikini-topped gals (in all fairness it was really sweltering) - several of them with live snakes hung around their necks. Aisles were only 4-5 feet across and then the Chicago Elevated Train loomed and rumbled over the street about 30 feet away. My art got covered with a fine dust.
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
I couldn't compete with the multitudes of rug-hooked Green Bay Packers Toilet Seat Covers. I got disgusted - pulled up early and didn't come back for the second day. I really goofed on this venue - although it was juried.
