Mmm, I'm kind of late for this post but try www.fineartamerica.com  If you don't have a budget for a designer, and logos, this site is an online gallery that also gives you your own site for 39.00 a year. Browse around, it has been…

Welcome!  Like the scarf there.  I live in Alabama and have been doing art shows regularly for the last 5 years.  Even though the economy has been tough, I've done way better than expected and even won some awards.  The…

Oops. Reading this later. Damn, Chris, I find that hard to believe. Really? Arghhh.. I'm going to poll a group of women artists who I run a mail list for. I'll post results. They are mostly middle aged, having been in the arts for…

The problem to me about weebly is that you can't own your own domain name right? Someone recently told me their website and it was something like www.janejonesweebly.com....pretty unwieldy

Debbie, if you have mobile me on your mac, you can set up a free web site with easy to use templates. That's how I did mine. You aren't supposed to do a commerce site, but it sounds like you just want a brochure site for dispensing info,…

Weebly.com is a great FREE tool to build a website. They have tons of templates and it's pretty much a drag and drop process. What you see is what you get. You can add a slide show, photo gallery, even buy now buttons. I highly recommend it.…

Whew! Thanks everyone for the comments. In between my studio time, which is rather hectic at the moment, I think I am leaning towards Wordpress. I like the design and user friendly for someone who doesn't have time to spend a lot of time on…

I use Fat Cow for hosting. I think it's around $100/yr. My husband does everything for my website, so I'm in the dark on the details. I don't have a shopping cart set up yet. I'm still debating on that one since I only make one…

I've used JustHost for my hosting company and I'm very happy with them. I've been setting up websites and blogs for 12 years and now only set people up with the WordPress platform. WordPress is not just a blog. It can be a full photo…

Have a blog/website with plugins for a gallery of photos. The photos that go up will show your work, and the text is what the search engines look for. I recommend WordPress for the blog platform, but host it at a web host company. You'll be…

ONB Magic City Art Connection - Birmingham, Alabama

Posted on May 6, 2010 at 10:11pm 4 Comments

I wanted to let everyone know that I was at the juried ONB Magic City Art Connection in Birmingham, Alabama for the second year, May 23-25,2010. I was there as DebsThreads, a textile artist, who had a good show. There were over 215 artists there. Being a 3 day show, the weather was great on Friday and Sunday, but they cancelled the show on Saturday due to the horrible weather(tornadoes, storms, etc.) . It was a lost day and I know that was hard for all but I thought the Sunday crowds were better… Continue

Yes, I also hand dye yarns and spinnable fibers. I do some handspinning and silk painting but mostly sell the finished wearables.

Deb's Threads I see you live in Birmingham. Have you been in the Bluff Park Art Association show in the Fall? Any information would be helpful.
Is it held in the same location as ONB Majic City.

Thanks, your work is lovely... I enjoy Nuno Felting as well but have spent a lot of time this year in fiber paintings, both wet and needle-felted as well as a combination of the two... Felting never ceases to amaze me! I am hooked on this medium after dabbling in many other mediums over the years.
I too spin and weave but I would call those fun pastimes at this point!
