Permanent Booth, Last Installment

I want to give an update on what is going on and it will be my last installment on this topic.I have been accepted into the antique/vintage/unique mall where I applied for a booth!  Yay!  I actually heard from them on Thursday I think.  They seem anxious to get me in before the next weekend they are open, which is this coming weekend.  Yikes! This place is open on the first and third weekends of each month.  They have scheduled days they are open for the booth operators to go in and work on their booth.  This week, the only available days is Monday and Tuesday, due to meetings during the week.I cannot go tomorrow because we are too short staffed at our store for dh to get away.  We have an employee who was called for jury duty.  She is hoping to get dismissed because she wants/needs to work.  Yes, it's a civic duty but she is the main bread winner for her family.  If she is actually called upon to serve, we will be delayed a week which means we miss this month, totally. If she is…See More

Vintage Market Days (VMD) of Mississippi Review

Posted on March 27, 2018 at 9:53am 5 Comments

Let me start by saying I never really know where to put these reviews because it is not an "art" show.  So Connie, if you want to move it elsewhere, please do.  I will fill you in on our experience but YMMV.

This past weekend dh and I went Brandon, MS, which is a suburb of Jackson, to attend Vintage Market Days of Mississippi.  VMD is not for every artist or crafts person, which is true of any show.  There is no show or event that fits everyone, including VMD.  VMD is a…

Review: Vintage Market Days of Mississippi

Posted on April 5, 2017 at 10:09am 10 Comments

This past weekend my husband, our daughter and I had a booth at Vintage Market Days (VMD) in Brandon, MS, near Jackson.  This was our first ever VMD event.  I had applied to the one in southeast Louisiana but was wait listed due to my category being full.

VMD is a franchise based promoter that has been doing shows around 5 years.  They started off in middle America, Oklahoma I think.  Promoters buy a franchise or a given area to run a bi-annual show, spring and…

We had that show that is near my house.  It has been a bad weekend all around for the artists, the organizer, the shoppers, EVERYONE.  Oh, and the weather was a major player too.  Where do I start.

Let's start with the weather.  It was predicted it would begin…

Trunk Sale vs. Craft Show

Posted on December 9, 2015 at 5:19pm 17 Comments

A couple of weeks ago I hosted a trunk sale in my home.  I had mentioned it here on AFI and Connie mentioned blogging about it so here I am.  Specifically Connie had suggested blogging trunk sale vs. a craft show.  This is my first blog here so try to be forgiving if I don't pull it off well.  <smile>

I have been doing my craft, making travertine tile coasters, trivets and plaques for 3 years this month.  I actually got into this coaster business somewhat accidentally. …

Welcome to Art Fair Insiders, Cynthia.  I'm pleased to see you here and look forward to having you as part of our community.

When you have a chance, please add a photo of yourself and stop by the "Discussions" area to introduce yourself to the rest of us. We all look forward to your participation here. Also, visit the "member map" and add your location. We have a lot to offer one another, experienced and newbie alike. Let's make this a dynamic site!

Many topics have already been discussed here before you joined us. You might like to try a search of your topic before you post your question. Just put your topic, canopy tents, jurying fees, Ann Arbor Art Fair, etc, into the search bar at the top of the right side of the page. You might be surprised that someone has already asked your question.

We also ask that all new members take a few moments of their time to read the code of conduct. You will find it at http://www.artfairinsiders.com/page/code-of-conduct. There are a few guidelines that all members will need to follow because , as in any social community, we all need to work together.

Hi Cynthia!  We have been in Memphis visiting grandkids.  You can see my jewelry at Laurindalee's Paper Bead Jewelry on Etsy or Facebook - Laurindalee's  or my home page on facebook  Linda Myer Miller Patrick.   My son lives in Metairie and manages Rick's Sports Bar on Bourbon.  To find those festivals just look under a search for festivals in Alabama.  Look for Elberta Sausage Festival, Daphne Jubilee Festival, Strawberry Festival in Loxely Alabama.  It just takes some time doing the legwork.  Love your coasters!
