Started this discussion. Last reply by Linnea Lahlum Jul 6, 2011. 6 Replies

This show is a revival of the art fairs done in the Chicago Botanic Gardens in the 1980s. The directors of the Gardens wanted to resurrect the art fair, Amdur Productions signed on as the promoter…Continue

Spring Green Art Fair - A Winner

This is one of Wisconsin's finest art fairs -- actually fine arts and fine crafts -- and I thought only we in Wisconsin knew about this treasure. But then I've always strolled the streets as a buyer;…Continue

University of Wisconsin Madison Arboretum November 2009 was my first indoor show. Did a "practice" show at UW Parkside Arts and Crafts Festival in Kenosha WI on June 26, 2010. It wasn't a fine art show by any means, mostly crafts and even a little buy/sell, but we wanted a run through before we begin in earnest.

Review of Holiday Art Show in Madison, Wisconsin

Posted on November 22, 2010 at 12:41pm 1 Comment

I spent the weekend exhibiting my botanical photography at the Holiday Art Show in Madison, Wisconsin, a fine arts, juried show held in the Overture Center for the Arts/Madison Museum of Contemporary Arts in downtown Madison and directed by the Museum staff.

(Same group that puts on Art Fair on the Square in Madison, their summer art fair)

The staff and volunteers are top notch -- went out of there way to be helpful and attentive, and make the artists' lives a bit easier.… Continue

Zapped!

So I took the plunge - in a big way for me. I figured out the Zapplication process last week, worked out a few days on my calendar yesterday, and today I did 4 applications. And I already sent in one to an Arizona show that isn't on Zapp a couple of weeks ago.

Once I got over a big case of fear, I thought the Zapp process was pretty easy. My biggest obstacle was getting my photos to be under the 2 MB limit, but a little work around with Photoshop Elements and everything worked out… Continue

Info about Arizona Fine Art Shows in Spring -- Anyone???

Posted on August 20, 2010 at 4:10pm 2 Comments

Does anyone have current info about some of the spring Arizona Fine Art Shows? I'll be based in Tucson in February through early April, 2011, so could do some Tuscon/Phoenix area shows.

I'm looking at a few - I know about Tubac, I visited there last year, but know nothing about the ones in Fountain Hills, Tempe, Scottsdale or Carefree in the Phoenix area or the Oro Valley show in the Tucson area.

I do abstract and macro-botanical photography, and I have photos from both the… Continue

Fine Arts Classic in Baraboo WI - August 14, 2010

Posted on August 20, 2010 at 3:56pm 3 Comments

This was my first art festival that had a fine arts flavor instead of arts and crafts and buy/sell. What a delight! The 46th Annual Fine Arts CLASSIC was in the historic part of downtown Baraboo,

Wisconsin
-- circling the courthouse square. There were about 75 artists and artisans, and only two or three buy/sell vendors somehow snuck in. (I really don;t know how these people get in to juried shows unless there… Continue

Hi Bo,

I appreciate your comment. Actually have you heard about all the muggins in the city? It's been crazy the last couple months. They are attacking men and stealing all their electronics. They operate in groups, like a gang forming but they already caught about 7 criminals. I was thinking about that before your post so I will have precautions. I might have my husband to drop me off and pick me up so we don't part. I'll think what else to do but yes, I will be careful. Thank you for your note, I will let you know how I do ;)

Bo, I did see your response...and I did almost comment. I think you are correct, in my experience folks from other regions do behave differently. I'll add my thoughts to the thread in a bit! Nice to meet you!
