I work in glass and the solution that I found: Using cloth covered tables I put the collapsible folding shelves from Target on top of these.  They are quite sturdy and allow the wind to blow through.  For my flat pieces such as…

I would change the description from glued on to embelished with...  Sounds better.

Amy Schulz replied to Jennifer Donald's discussion 'A topic I've not seen covered- clothing?'
An alternate is to wear your jeans and a tank top. Then use baby wipes and clean up, apply fresh deodorant, make up and put on a nice top over it. You don't have time to run to the port a potty to change, so something you can slip over. Jeans…

AAA has saved me several times. If you buy the +RV for trailer towing, they will tow you up to 150 miles at no charge. I actually had them bring the trailer and I to the show and my vehicle to the mechanic. But generally the lesson is to have all…

I engrave by hand, so cannot answer this question. BUT- I am part of several glass engraving groups on Yahoo. Somebody on there may use this machine and be able to assist you. Amy

Amy Schulz replied to Mark Koritz's discussion 'pulling a trailer'
Hi. Mark. I was using a 6cyl van to pull my 5x8 enclosed trailer and upgraded to a large 8cyl when that did not work. You do need to factor the weight of the trailer itself, what you put in the trailer and in your van. You can kill your transmission…

Amy Schulz replied to Sandra Tyler's discussion 'buying display racks or any ideas for?'
Look into a local re-sale fixture display store for the gridwall or other systems.  You should have a good selection at a much lower price.   A bonus to something with weight, such as gridwall, is that when you attach it to your tent, it…

Amy Schulz replied to Terry McCray's discussion 'Transporting your art to your booth site'
I had a little aluminum flat cart (from Harbor Freight) that I carried 2 batteries on.  Over rough terrain, it eventually started bending and does not work so well anymore.  Just an FYI on that.

I used a flat cart for my batteries and had the inverter right there too. Keeps it nice and neat.

The larger marine batteries will last a little over a day for me.  I run my cc machine, and 6-10 florescent lights.  I recharged them in the hotel room.  If you need them for 2 days, bring 2 batteries.

First show ever
A tiny little craft show at my mother-in-laws church. It was free and she asked me to do it since I was already doing glass etching as a little side business. I fell in love with it and went from there. Since then many things have changed from how and what I do to the type of shows that I sell at.

What are the best things about art fairs
The atmosphere. I get to work with wonderful crafters and meet great customers. I am a Mom first before anything else, but getting away to the shows is like therapy for me. I also really like petting everyones dogs.
Best show ever and why
Flagstaff Highland Games. The promoters are so wonderful and supportive. They have volunteers that move all of our "stuff" for us because we cannot drive onto the grass. The customers were wonderful and spent money. This show was only a few hours from home as well.
Worst show ever and why
A small Easter show in Ahwatukee. They did not promote it as a craft/vendor show at all. Nobody wanted to buy anything as they were just there for a day with the kids. We were not able to drive to our spot and they blocked most of the ways in with their fencing, so it was very difficult to set up and tear down. The people running the show were very uncooperative.
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
I have missed a couple of shows, but have never left in the middle of one. I missed one show because I not only had a leak in a tire, but my battery died. I just felt that I was not suppose to go to that show and instead of just getting a new battery, I took my car in to get checked out. Turned out that I had a breakage and there was axle grease on my back brakes and my front breaks were not great. To get to that show I would have been driving mountain roads with a trailer. I probably would not be here now if I had gone.

Hi Amy
I checked with the blowers out here and right now they are not so interested as they are in the season.
