I applied too late to be accepted in this show and was put on the wait list. After considering that I do not have critical indoor show display 'furniture' I decided to be removed from the waitlist.…Continue

I know nothing of the wait list policy.  I had also applied (late) to the American Crafts Council show in St. Paul in April.  They put me on their wait list, and I decided in January to opt out of the show altogether.  I'm not set up for being indoors with fancy lights and furniture.  I also decided that I didn't want to put that much pressure on my self by having so many quilts made in such a short time, and allocating a very large chunk of change for the booth fee.  I don't remember exactly but it was between $600 -$800.  I usually take October - December off and focus on other important things.

I'm wait listed, after applying for the first time this year. Fear of getting one of the notorious parking lot spaces held me back before. I emailed right after notification to ask if I have a wait list number, but have heard nothing back. Does anyone know anything about their wait list policy?

I heard that too, that there will be no bad spots.  It is an awesome show with thousands of potential customers.  Good luck to you!

I am in this show this year.  I have heard from other artists that the layout improved last year and there are no more lousy locations.  This will be my first time at this show, have only heard good things except the weather and loading in/out.

Edina Art Fair...

Is anyone here going to be in Edina this summer?  I see that they changed the date so that it is the second weekend in June and not like the first weekend over the past few years.

I was there in 2012 on France Ave and had tremendous sales.  The weather was ideal all three days.  However, in 2013, also being on France Ave the sales were ok.  I sold half as much as 2012.  The weather was both hot and cold and rainy off and on.  I was suffering a bad head cold and was miserable the whole time there.   I applied this year and they put me on the wait list.  I'm worried that this might lead them to give me a bad spot but we'll see.  Maybe they won't offer me any spot, we'll see.

Are you an artist living and creating art in South Central Wisconsin? 14 South Artists would like to invite you to participate in our 11th Annual Fall Studio Tour. This year, for the first time, we're inviting non-members to participate as guest artists.

Our Press Release:

14 South Artists presents its 11th Annual Fall Studio Art Tour: “Hand Made in Your Community.” The tour will be on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13-14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. This year the tour combines art organizations 14 South Artists and Madison Art Guild (MAG). For the first time, two well-respected art guilds collaborate to provide the community the opportunity to meet an extensive array of talented local artists, including budding young artists from local high schools.

Artists will be showing their work and greeting the public in studios and galleries located in historic communities in south central Wisconsin. Many of the artists exhibit in nationally known art fairs, galleries and museums, with several selling internationally.

Enjoy a scenic drive and take the opportunity to meet the artists and learn about their art. 14 South is a new direction for art. We are handmade, homegrown and local. Come and see what you have in your own back yard.

I am interested in getting more info about art shows in Northern Wisconsin, I do have a feeling that making larger pieces to sell at show wont go very far, but the smaller well made unique pieces will. I have seen in my area the some of what the people sell, made out of pallet wood or rustic log type construction. I am doing the more elegant and specific type of pieces. Not just what I am crafting, but even right down tot the wood I am using. Always looking for grains that have been stained a color by natural means. The normal hardwoods I save for furniture, unless I have enough to do a large piece.

Currently I am starting to look into shows, my MIL I know has some info and contacts as she is a weaver, but I would also like to start learning and maybe the same shows that she likes wont be good for my craft.

Is there a woodworking guild for the Northwoods of WI?

Any tips on set of a booth for juried shows that anyone has found to work?

I know I have questions and many can be answered by reading, I have always found however that those with experience go beyond the standard answers.

Thanks

Oh no! Were you able to save most of your inventory?

This is horrible... heard about the storm from my brother up in the cities.  Did YOU lose art work?  Potential storms, predicted or not, are why I NEVR leave my paintings in my booth overnight.  We don't worry so much about theft, just mother nature!

Ouch. I was think of all of you at Wayzata. Glad I didn't decide to do it. I hope you get your booth fee back
