Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals
Permalink Reply by Jim Sincock on April 9, 2012 at 7:13pm I've had my art photography on Etsy on & off for a bit over a year. Sales have been terrible, one print sale, but I have a lot of people tagging images as favorites.
From what I've seen with the photography that is selling well on Etsy, it just seems everyone copies what the other big sellers are shooting. (By copy I mean they shoot the same subject matter, uses a similar textured layer, same pricing, same 2 for one deals, etc.) The people selling well also seem to upload, or renew images at least once every day, and they tend to have 100+ items to choose from. Your work gets buried unless you are constantly adding more and keeping high in the searches.
I have a couple other Etsy shops where I sell non-art items (vintage items, spice mixes, hand-made soaps), and those have done better, but are still hit or miss.
