Make that "loose" fibers, I see there is not the 15-minute edit feature in group posts, good to know!

I just NOW saw AFI has groups this morning and this group is one of two I've joined. I make wet felted, nuno felted and woven scarves, wraps/shawls and capes. So far. I used to work in clay and mixed media when I first started doing art shows for my full time living. I made the transition slowly over a few years, beginning when I decided I wanted to make cloth to embellish my fired clay mixed media doll sculptures. Starting with simple basic weaving on a piece of scrap cardboard, it just took off from there when I began purchasing lose fibers and dying fabric and then felting over that. Then I got breast cancer and had treatments and surgeries that made me really glad I had recently made the total transition to fiber. I too have made many many oh so many changes and tried and failed booth displays! So I have tips if anyone ever needs them lol. Hope to upload pics soon to my page of my work, but getting ready for Peter Anderson festival this weekend. Best to all and good sales!

Hello. I think I have found where leather workers hang out. I am a custom saddlemaker in Colorado, but I build a lot of other leather goods in both chrome and veg. tanned leathers. I have four sewing machines and one stitcher in my studio for sewing light garment leathers to heavy harness and saddlery. Most of my work is one-of-a kind. You an see what I do at www.sherersaddlesinc.com.

Hello Handbag & Accessories Group!   I am an upcycle artist that takes something from its original intended purpose and elevates it into something new and more creative.   Handbags and accessories are part of my collection.

I am  excited to be a part of this group and look forward to learning from  you all.

Wishing everyone a great art fair season.   Enjoy your day!!

Wow! I just found this group on the home page and thought I would join in the fun... I am a retired landscape architect and I have been making a wide variety of women's bags since 1997. I also do some kitchen accessories so some shows consider my work mixed media but I do a few fine art shows in which I only jury my bags. All of the designs are my own and I generally try to come up with 2 or 3 new bags each year. It is difficult to do sometimes because I have a few bags which I am  just barely able keep up with for inventory for shows. I do about 20 shows a year throughout the Midwest, Northeast, and the Southeast.

I consider my style very contemporary and my choice of prints is very eclectic. This allows for my client base to use the same style bag for a variety of dress styles and occasions. I have many client who have the same style bag in several different prints for multiple use.

I am glad to have found the group and I wish everyone good luck with their endeavors.

Hello!  I'm new to the group.  I am a fiber artist and use freeform knitting and crochet as well as wet felting to create accessories that include handbags.  I'm looking for a wholesaler for leather handles.  Any ideas? My web site is www.knittygrittybysara.com.  Thanks!

Hi everyone, I make handbags, sweater coats , and lots of other things.  I need ideas on displaying enerything.  It tends to look cluttered.I made walls from pvc pipe and lattis,  but need water falls or something that Ican put more items on to display. Any one got any ideas?

I also like to use leather coats, skirt for use stores. The leather comes in a lot of different colors. They are worn so a bit softer. The prices can't be beat.

For leather that you want to make bags out of that are not to be carved I recommend 2-4oz . designer clothing is usually 1oz For biker Jackets 2-3 oz the terms glovey, soft etc denotes a drape. Firm etc is usually stiff I have several industrial machines so can handle many weights. Also a skiving machine to thin the leather edges down For a domestic machine the lighter weight.

I found some on ebay. I'm not sure about the weights, though. One piece was very soft and easy to sew. The other was more stiff. Does anyone know what weights are good to work with? I used mine for hats.
