Hi Mark,
I'm not very familiar with the Hot Start. I think there is a way to override, but I don't know how. The best place to ask is on the board on the warm glass site - www.warmglass.com. Someone will know. What are you working on this year?

Best of luck.
Permalink Reply by Jaky Felix on March 1, 2011 at 5:12pm I think that it depends on how old the kiln is. On the older models (pre 2003 maybe), I'm pretty sure that you cannot overide the programs, however, you can adjust the program's top temperature and hold time.
I'd be interested to know what Skutt says if you call them.

Permalink Reply by Lawrence Cimaglio on April 16, 2012 at 10:07am Don't know if you got your answer, but of course, you can write over the factory set program. Does this computer have the arrows up ect. or a numeric keypad? The standard Hotstart has the arrows, but the "Glassmaster" is a numeric pad, so a little confused. I find that in firing, the high is currently set at 1460+. For my purposes, the pre-programmed settings are too hot and too restrictive. For castings and larger pieces, I need longer ramps and soaks. I believe that you also have the capability of 5 programs with up to 8 ramps per on the arrow computer where the numeric has up to 6 programs with 8 ramps. Hope this helps. If you need specific info beyond Skutt reps, let me know at lcimaglio@lorenzosstudio.com

Lar
