Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals
this is just a heads up that if you are looking for a nice indoor show, you might want to give the Columbia Art Museum Artisan's Fair a shot next year. It was 11/16 from 10-4. I took my nature print glass serving pieces and ended up selling 25 plates/bowls/platters during the six hour period plus an 18 piece place setting commission. The show is an adjunct to the gift shop and they handle all sales and take 40%. A bit steep, yes. In the end, it worked out to be the equivalent of a $250 booth fee for me but all I had to do was put a table cloth on the table and sell.
It was a $35 jury fee. I saw the call for artists through the Carolina Arts News email. The two wood turners next to me seemed to be making a killing as was the jewelry artist across from me. I'm not sure how anyone else did. The Museum brought the people in and they were there for one of a kind pieces/gifts from Carolina artists...
