I participated in the Francisco's Farm Arts Festival, in Midway Kentucky last year and found it a decent show in a really lovely setting. When I went to apply this year Zapp said I missed the deadline. I had a little freak, then I realized I was looking at 2014 info. The Francisco's website says the applications will be ready around Christmas. Well that's long gone. Did they kill it? I've sent out 3 emails to different addresses connected to the show and no one has answered.

  • The applications are now available with a February 28 deadline and artist selection March 14.

  • I received the same message this morning from two different emails I had sent out earlier on this;

    Greetings,

The 2015 Francisco's Farm Arts Festival will take place May 16-17, 2015 at Midway College as scheduled.

We have experienced some unforeseen health issues within our organization. This has caused the delay in building the Artist Application. A revised application schedule, fees and a link to our artist application will be posted on our Facebook and website in the coming weeks.

Due to the volume of emails we will receive, we will be unable to notify you via email when the application is on the website. We encourage you to continue to check our website and Facebook.

We apologize for the delayed response to your email. Thank you for your patience.

The only problem now is dealing with other pending applications. I've been accepted by the Lower Town Art Fair in Paducah, Ky, which has 30 days to accept or not. Then there are a couple of long shot apps that are still out there.

    • I also received this email this morning. Not very reassuring, IMO. I'm concerned that there will be a severe lack of applications for the show, which may ultimately cause the show to cancel in the end. The show's lack of commitment and responsibility are not very commendable.

I still plan to apply, but am not holding my breath!

I also considered applying to Lower Town, but chose not to due to the long hours at night. I've not ever heard anything really positive about the show. The handful of artists I know who have done the show have never said anything good about it, nor have ever returned for a second year.

There are quite a few shows available (some good national shows within range) in mid-May, though most deadlines have past by now.

I hope FFAF gets back on its feet, and offers a good show this year.

      • Good to know about the LTAF. It sounded good on paper, but heard nothing much about it. My concerns were that it was so far to drive for me, a 5 hr drive, plus it's isolation as a small regional center. Evansville, IN, is like that and it's a death trap for artists and shows.

  • I emailed Ellen Gregory, VP of Marketing and Communications at Midway College concerning the Francisco's Farm Art Festival. She replied, and gave me permission to pass on the following contact information to all of you -

"Artists are asked to contact Kenny Smith at 859-333-9909 or kenny@kennydid.com with questions and to express their interest."

Hopefully, applications will be forthcoming very soon.

  • Hey everyone, and Robert M. Wallis ! Looks like you were right and I didn't have enough faith! The web site for Francisco's Farms show was down for repair and update for a few days and now is back up again. It says final artist selection will be Feb. 28th but the Zapp app is still not updated. We shall see...

  • The committee is ran by a small group of retirees, and I suspect they are way behind. I did the show last year, and would love to be in it again. I sent an email to artists@franciscosfarm.org asking if the show was going to be held this year and when applications would be available.

Their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/franciscosfarmartsfestival indicates they are taking food vendor and volunteer applications at this time, so it sounds like they are planning to have it this year.

    • Hi Robert,

I remember seeing you there but didn't have a chance to introduce myself. I'm always alone! Anyway. Louisville Artisans Guild has a facebook page and they think it has expired... So I guess I'll apply somewhere else to have a back up. There are a lot of good shows that weekend but I will have to drive a couple of states over!

      • I did apply to the Paducah show that same weekend, and that is the same date as Broad Ripple which is still open for applications.
        • I looked at Paducah and I just fall into the required 350 mile radius but it is a haul from my house for a show I don't know enough about.
