I know you're out there doing shows and in the heart of your season, will you be participating at one of these shows?

All week long in Syracuse (NY) it is Syracuse Arts Week, culminating with the Syracuse Art Festival this weekend. This sounds like a great event:

On the West Coast? This is the big weekend in the Seattle area with three shows going on simultaneously:

A friend tells me his best show of the summer last year was this small one in a classy Chicago suburb, the Geneva Art Fair:

Lititz, PA's, Art Fair in the quaint area around Lancaster may be hosting you:

Since there are essentially five weekends in July it means more opportunities to do even more shows. Are you?

  • Forgot this: We saw about eight mountain goats. The adults were shedding their winter coats but the babies looked like balls of cotton candy leaping along the cliffs. As we were bumming around Breckenridge, CO Saturday afternoon and evening I came up with the brilliant idea that this was an art show recon trip to "determine in if the demographics were correct" for us to do an art show in Breck. Another business trip write off as we "just decided to give Quandary a shot". LOL

OK, I am done with these last two. Photo credit on Rocky Mtn. goat: Kim Lucas. Note the shedding winter coat.  The other shows how much of a slog it was up from the trail head at the road bend in the valley. The fellow on the right is our personal trainer at gym.

  • We did it but it took 5 1/2 hours up and 5 1/2 hours down. It was a steep and very rocky climb. Photo is about half way up through boulder field. For the record, Jean is 68 1/2 and I will be 72 in September. Quandary Peak, 14, 265'. Christina, it's a Colorado thing to climb 14teeners just to see the view. The wildflowers were beautiful ranging from the conifer forests to alpine. 301671849?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024301672772?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

    • You're right, it's beautiful and I'm so impressed...good job!  Thanks for sharing these lovely photos with us.

    • Gotta love wilderness areas. That's awesome, Richard. WOOHOO!

  • Ha, ha...just wrote a blog about this and then found it!  Hope everyone's having a fun and lucrative week-end...do tell.

    • Syracuse sounds interesting as I've moved closer to that area. Anyone do it?

Lititz- That was one of my first art shows..about 30 some years ago..

I have been working in my studio this weekend. My last two shows went well- State college and Guilford, and I'm busy making more pots.

      • Do tell, Judy -- State College, big event with diverse crowds who are happy to be back in the old college town and I have just about no info about Guilford, except that it is long running and a good show.

Just found another story about Lititz -- that makes it sound very nice: http://lancasteronline.com/news/local/lititz-outdoor-art-show-draws...

        • Yes, Lititz was nice and looked upon as a good show in that area- but for me, that was around 1982!!!

I had a hard time finding info on Guilford, too, then just decided to jump in anyway.

I'll put up some info later about it.

  • I'm shaping and carving a frame again (started yesterday), this one a combination of Dutch auricular and French Art Nouveau. Artwork is already sold and I need to deliver to get paid. Also hosting a collector couple in the studio tomorrow, so cleaning up quite a lot as well. We'll be serving dinner in studio for some good times. Have to put the other studio reno. on hold for a few days. WOOHOO!
