I hope this is where you meant for us to post re web sites Connie.

I finally got my website up and would really appreciate any feedback for improvement that anyone can offer.  After reading other info, I think from Connie, I realize that 2 places for positive change are getting my face on there somewhere and getting an email sign up easily visible.

Could the pic of me be on the "our story" page?

Ideas for getting email registration more visible?

Thank you,

Denise

  • Wow. Great looking site!  Great products also! Yes, I believe your photo should go on the "our story" page, since you start introducing yourself right away.  That would give visitors a "visual" of who's talking.  But if you can, I'd leave the tree photo on the home page, as that looks very cool.  Do you know how you're going to make the email signup work so that it is automatic?

    • Thanks Sandy, I really appreciate your input. Recently had eye surgery so I'm looking pretty scary, but will get to that pic of me soon. And no I don't know how to make the email automatic, but plan to get the person that designed the site to do that. It would put them in a group then I would send updates/news to the group, right? That's what I'm hoping would happen before my first big show in November :-))

      • Scarey?  Just in time for Halloween! :-)  Just kidding..... I hope the surgery was successful.

Good for you.  Ask your webmaster.  I looked into it for my other website, and there are a bunch of rules and regulations in the CAN-SPAM Act.  I think Connie is using Feedblitz, and that seems to work well on this end, but maybe she can fill you in on what is involved on her end.   .  I see you have your link directed to Etsy.  Do they have something?  I found a link on Etsy's site about newsletters: https://blog.etsy.com/en/2013/how-to-grow-your-etsy-business-with-n...

I'm following this post.  Please let us know what you end up doing.

        Thanks,

        Sandy

  • and some more help ... My sites were all started with the advice of my son, Scott Fox, an author who writes about Internet marketing. A while back I did a podcast with him, best tips for artists and their websites. He knows our business well. I think you'll find it helpful as you continue to work on your site. And, by the way, GOOD for you.

    • thank you Connie….I do get your emails and absolutely appreciate this site and your others as well.  Most of what we've learned has come from here and the many posts of other experienced artists here, as well.  I was asking if this was the correct area of your site to post my website for suggestions for improvement.  I'll definitely listen to the podcast, thanks!

      • This is the right place, Denise. Thank you for paying attention as I try to make the site more "user friendly", confusing many in the mean time ;)

  • Denise -- if you look at my sites ArtFairCalendar.com, CallsforArtists.com and ArtShowReviews.com, as well as this one, you'll see WAY up there on the right hand side an email sign up box. Plus, there are some reminders in the body of the sites to sign up for our emails and also at the bottom of the many of the pages. It works. I have been online for nearly 10 years so the sites come up high in the google rankings -- plus, I get many new signups every day. Yesterday:301659823?profile=RESIZE_480x480

  • Interesting lace jewelry, Denise. I'm gonna throw out one item for you, and it's that you don't have your name on the home page. You do have your daughter Erin's name on the home page, but not yours. If you are the maker of the jewelry, that might be an important detail to include on the home page.

    • Thanks Barrie, I'd think that definitely IS important.  It's only been up a few weeks and 3 of us missed the obvious. I'll fix that, thanks again.
