Took the Plunge!

Today I took the plunge on the Red River Revel (Shreveport, LA) show.  Tomorrow is the deadline so I entered my application online.  This is the one that I had mentioned is a much bigger show that costs more than we have ever spent on a single show.  However, booth cost/day comes out to about what we pay/day for other shows.  I know we'll have hotel and stuff but we'll see.

Since I am applying to such a big show and this is my first app for such a show, I really do not expect to get in.  I will be happy to get in but if I don't I hope to use it as a learning experience.

Any one here ever apply to this show?  If so, and you did not make the cut, did they tell you why you didn't make the cut?  If not, how do you know how to improve your app?

If you applied and made the cut, what was your experience like?

  • I Hope you get in the show. Did you apply for one weekend or both? I haven't done it before and have not spoke to anyone that has. If I remember the festival goes on till 10pm each night...making for some long hours. It is a popular festival with a lot going on.

    • I applied for the first weekend, which includes Saturday through Tuesday.  Dh suggested the first weekend because you get 2 weekend days for shopping.  The second weekend ends on Saturday.

I have been able to ask a few people here or there about it, who have actually attended as shoppers and they said it was a good show.  *IF* I get in I'll get to find out for myself.  I feel as though I am a long shot since I am a first timer though.

Yes, it will be long hours and I hope there are people out till closing to make the late hours worth it.  All booths get electricity and you can rent lighting for a deposit, which is refunded up on return of lighting.  We have talked about lighting for our booth anyway so we may check out what is available beforehand and give a try before going.
