Is there a simple way to get a good photo of your art for reproduction.  I have called about scanning but can be expensive.  Do you have to have lights and digital camera.   Has anyone used iphone 5 or 6 and been successful getting a color correct image for printing.

  • Gosh, living in the Dallas area you have a plethora of folks offering these kinds of services. I googled and found one outfit even has a scanning camera. By all means, leave the I-Phone for facebook stuff. Not repros of your art.

How big are your artworks that you want to repro? I tried to look at some of your work, but I can't find any significant web presence.

  • The best you can do currently is find someone with a nikon D800 series camera and a macro lens and good lighting. You are joking about possibly using an iphone? The Nikon will give you about 7400 pixels long dimension. Enough to make a 24 inch print without interpolation.

    • Well - I think I have had people tell me they have used their iphone -- lol.

What about Giclee where I would want larger images?  Any suggestions....

      • Giclee's of paintings are reproductions. That's what your initial question was about.

If you want to use your iphone, by all means give it a try and then get a print made.

A good quality file with enough pixels can enlarge 50% to 100% with no problems.
