Any body currently using their smart phone for credit card sales? What company and phone do you use? Who is cheap? I'd hate to pay alot of money each month since I'm new and I don't know if I'll sell anything.

Thanks,

Ann

I've been using the Intuit service with the card reader/printer device. Can't say enough good stuff about it. Works perfectly with my blackberry. Very easy to use. Prints out a receipt for the customer and one for me to keep with my records. My money was deposited into my account before I got home from the show. Probably 85% of my sales were credit card. Don't know how sales would have compared without taking credit cards since I'm new, but the Intuit Go Payment service is great.

OOPS - I made a mistake. I have been using my I-Phone with Go Payment for awhile and it works great. The little blue card reader does not work with the I-Phone yet.... but will in the near future. Bummer... I just got today and am waiting until Apple releases approval for it's use..... perhaps in a few weeks. Anyway... I do like the rates and ease of use with the Go Payment App on I phone.

I thought that Square is the deal BUT they have real $$ limit problems . If my sales are limited to $100 & then they will build up my limit / well this just doesn't work / what happens to the big $$$ sales especially in a large city ( lincoln Center in june) it is tough to just let them send me a check in the mail// nobody trusts anyone in N.Y.C. /so we are looking at smart phone apps/ all imput is welcomed thanks, bill

Not sure if this will work for you or not. I use Propay http://propay.com and you have several input options. Low tech, online, knucklebuster - messy and time consuming. They also offer a microsecure card reader - data is encrypted upon swiping and stores up to 70ish transactions that can only be downloaded with your personal key.

The option you might be interested in works with their Protect Pay program http://pocketpay.me The nice thing about it is that your phone doesn't HAVE to be a smartphone, a super basic web capable phone will work too.

Depending on the dollar amounts of your average transactions/ monthly volume this may not be the best option for you though - but it's working well for me just getting started. There are option for higher limits and please note that the fees you'll see on the Propay website are ANNUAL not monthly as most folks think at first. They end up being pretty equivalent to the fees you'd pay to Paypal if you are familiar with them.

Best of luck!
What happens with Intuit (with a swiper and a blackberry set-up) if you have no cell phone signal? Can you still swipe the transaction and the unit stores the information and batches out when you eventually get a signal? Or are you out of luck and you have to manually swipe the sale and are stuck with having to then pay the higher % on a keyed sale?

Also, what happens if you get a phone call during the sale? How good is the bluetooth connection?

Thank you
