I have learned that Reflectix can be made into pouches (what a great idea!!). I have varnished acrylic paintings on 1.5 deep gallery wrapped canvases that do not get framed. These pouches will come in handy for travel and packaging for clients. But...I'm concerned about using any plastic bags in between the art and the pouch. Am I still going to need to use parchment paper on between the paint and the pouch? Any other ideas? Is my concern about the pouch or the Reflectix sticking to the acrylic and varnish unwarranted? Thanks in advance.

  • That's good news! Some of my paintings have pouring medium mixed into the paint. Do you think it will be okay? It's my understanding that pouring medium can get dents.
    • I worked with an artist who made decapage 3d painting(excuse spelling) and they used the bags but put a 30 x 40 cardboard insert with bending edges on the cardboard so the painting couldn't touch it.  Haven't heard back from her so I assume that took care of the problem.

  • We have made over 25 of these bags for our 30 x 40 canvases and they have worked extremely well and they're all circumstances when I put inside of our trailer no scratches no left off no sweating we made flaps and put Velcro across the top to seal them so we could set them outside behind the tent for storage to be rain free they work well
  • Hi Kristen,

I also have acrylic gallery wrapped canvas art. I have been putting them into the type of bag you are referring to (I ordered mine online already made) for years. I sometimes put them into plastic bags first, then insert into the pouch. I've never had any issues with sticking to the varnish or paint.

  • Can't be of much help. I do know Frame Destinations sells pouches. Have you looked at their product line and /or queried them? We always carried our framed under glass photos in heavyweight plastic bags to keep them from scratching each other and making them stackable for transporting (back to back with a thin piece of cardboard between the glass to glass). Then the clear bags were the wrapping when we sold them so the customer could walk down the street with our image showing, a bit of advertising for us.

  • Just wanted to add that I have looked thru the forum, and have seen some questions abkut this, but none answered the question of putting unframed painted canvases into such pouches.
