Before I sign up for this -- any PROS and/or CONS?  Better Business Bueaur has 55 complaints filed against them; kind of a lot for a smaller company. Found complaints via Google; looking for some positive comments other than the ProPay website!

Thank you

I have been using propay for over a year. I love them. I have not had one problem with the company or their service. Everything that I have used from them (putting in cards over the phone, through the computer, sweeping funds into my bank account) ha s worked flawlessly. I like the idea that there isn't a monthly fee and no monthly or yearly minimums. You can use it as often or a little as you like. It's Aldo very easy to raise your transaction limits for each transaction as well as your monthly limits. I would defintiely recommend them for how easy they make processing cards.

I've been using it for a few months now. Processing credit cards with a knuckle-buster and entering the info on the computer when I get home. No problems. An affordable solution until my business gets too big (a happy day). I'd recommend them!
There has been much posted recently on credit cards-iphone apps - and various companies- DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST my first choice is no contract, and keep it simple//alot of people have said alot in past blogs/ Fair Winds
I have used ProPay for three years and no problems. I enter via the computer when I get home or via phone at the show (when I have time), and it's worked out well for me.
I've been using Propay for 6 years now and have had no issues. Their fees are well laid out and I've never been hit with any unexpected charges. Typically, the money is in my bank account within 4-5 days (although they do offer a debit card). I process the charges when I get home, but have the ability to do it by phone. I've recommended it to several artist/crafter friends.

I did sign up and had the opportunity to use it this past weekend at the Antioch show; worked great. Probably would have lost some sales - already paid for itself! Thanks for your input.
Sandy, I am considering switching too. I pay $20 a month plus an added $8 some months for "protection" on the charges. I have a knuckle buster. How much do you really pay a month with Propay? is it really $20 a year?
They have different plan levels. The first one only takes Visa and MC and I think is $35 for the year, plus the fees for each transaction ($.35 + 3-1/2%). There are transaction and monthly maximums, but no monthly minimums. I have the next level up with is about $70 for the year - and transaction fees are $.30 and 3-1/4% - I can accept Visa, MC, Discover and AMEX. I may be off by a few dollars on the annual fees-I paid my renewal in the spring and don't have all of my numbers handy.
I have the simple plan that accepts Visa and M/C, works great - I enter basic information in the computer after the show and funds are available within a couple days. Last night I did have one that was declined; I'm hoping I just transposed the number. The basic plan is $50/YEAR. I would recommend ProPay.
After reading good things about Propay here I applied and was accepted for credit card service in the Spring. After ordering the card reader and service (additional $150), I received an email from ProPay stating that "because of the high-risk nature of the business (Art) and the relative newness of the account they required a reserve of $1000 with a limit of $500 per transaction and $3000 per month". I was shocked and immediately canceled the service. It took quite a few emails and time to have the $150 refunded for the reader (which I returned) and the service. It was not a good experience. Fortunately, I went with Intuit's GoPayment service next and have been very happy. I use the Blue Bamboo card reader and haven't had any problems. I don't know if I had a bad ProPay representative or what, but I felt it was a clear example of bait and switch since none of the terms came up until after they signed me up. I have good credit so that wasn't an issue, but who can afford for them to hold $1000 just in case you have a charge back.
