Print Racks

Looking for advice on a print rack.  I ordered one from Cheap Joes and it is way bigger than I expected.  The smaller ones seem to be too short to put on the floor.  I want a tall one that does not have such a wide inside. My matted prints just won't stand up in the large one.  Thanks for any advice.

  • Thanks, CC and Barton. I would love to see a photo of your rolling bins. Pam@lapllc.com
    • Sorry I meant CC and Fletcher!
      • No worries on the name. Most of the time I get Dean Fletcher instead of Fletcher Dean. Barton was at least different!

Anyway, I've attached a few files here. One pic shows my hand-built bin on one of the four rolling carts I also built to transport my stuff. The print bin is strapped on top and holds my miscellaneous stuff like lights and a chair umbrella when I load up. This isn't the rolling cart I actually put it on during shows. That one is actually loaded up with my tent. (That cart is multilevel, too, with my walls below and my Trimline poles above because I hate to bend over and pick those poles up! It has three sets of vertical poles.)

Another photo shows the bin empty so you can see a bit of how it's constructed. Angled front and back. It's dusty inside but I wipe it down before every show.

Finally, there's a photo of it in my booth on the left. You can see I drape the bottom of my rolling cart, place the bin on top, and fill it up. I built it to hold matted 11x14 prints - two horizontal and one vertical. My oversized print bin is always in front of this facing out to show 13x19 prints in a 18x24 mat.

Questions? Just yell. My booth is always a work in progress it seems.

  • Hi Pamela,

I had the exact same problem. I now put 18x24s in my big rack that sits on the ground. But I also sell 11x14 mats and 8x10 unmatted that don't fit well into those. Putting them on a table wasn't really working for me and I didn't want the carpeted print bins. My solution was to simply build a wooden bin where I can put my smaller prints. I have built rolling carts for some of my supplies and re-use one of them (with a drape) to hold my bin. Looks better than a table with the small print bins. During show, I use the bottom of the cart to hold extra supplies out of sight behind the drape and reuse the bin itself to hold my lights and loose objects when I load up. Happy to send you pics if you're handy with wood (or know someone who is). :)

    • I would love to see a photo of your rolling bin as well.  k_kuczek@hotmail.com

  • If you use propanels, they make them in different sizes.  I realize even the small one is fairly wide, but they offer a divider that separates the width, which might work for you.
