I'm doing the Howard Alan Shadyside / Walnut Street Art Show at the end of August for the first time.

Set up is Saturday morning and I know it will be tight quarters. I see in past reviews posted here that many people dolly in. I don't know Pittsburgh at all and I have an oversize vehicle. Can anyone suggest a lot located near the show site where I can dolly in from?

I'm planning to use the show's parking lot for my van during show hours, but at the time of set up I need some guidance on where to put the vehicle while I unload.

Thanks!

  • Hi Sarah,

There is a lot at the school if Howard has made arrangements and your booth is at that end of the show, but it's still about a two block dolly. Otherwise get there as early as possible and park at a cross street near your booth. I suggest by 4:00AM. No matter what time he says the street will be closed, artists are already setting up.

If your booth is at the low numbers where S. Aiken Street is, there's a lot across the street for the strip plaza. It's across from the drug store. You can dolly from there if you're at that end of the show but will have to move when the security guards come on duty. But you can also park on S. Aiken if there is space when you're setting up. But then you'll have to move when the show opens.
