They look great Robin - well done!
Number 1, 2 and 4 need to be cropped. I can't tell anything else unless I open the images in Photoshop to check the color space and if anything can be improved.
But they definitely look better than the ones on a brown background.

Do you mean I cropped them too close? That's kinda what I was thinking.
That's why I always prefer to see them at full size on my computer.
I meant too much space on the adjacent sides. Just because you make them square doesn't optimize them for jurying. They need to be cropped to feature the image and set it off against the black page background the jurors see. Don't leave more in the image that's not artwork or it decreases the strength of the piece.

How do you make the ring stand up to it can be seen better?
Thanks Jacki, I bought one of those cube sets from ebay with lights. I dont think i needed the large cube. Do you mean the big ring? It's so heavy I don't think that any thing would prop it up,plus I'm using paper and wax doesn't hold things up as well on paper. Or I'm doing something wrong... entirely possible!.
