New to art fairs

Hello everyone! What a great site. I have been looking for something like this forever it seems. Since I am new to the Art Fair scene any tips or suggestions would be most welcome. I would love to start small of course, to get my feet wet, preferably not travel across the country. If there are any smaller festivals in the North Carolina Region coming up this year I would love to hear about them. I look forward to meeting everyone. Thank you!

  • Hi, Leslie,

When I started doing shows, I found it really helpful to have a checklist of every little thing I'd need (or might need) at the show. I listed everything: pens, paper, business cards, receipt books, change, tables, table coverings, tent (yeah, it worked. Haven't forgotten it yet!), tent weights, bungie cords, hammer, etc. etc.

    Good luck and have fun!

  • Welcome Leslie!

I'm fairly new too, but Connie has done a great job putting great information out there.
    • Hi Patty,
Thanks for the welcome...you too! I know, this is a great site from what I've seen so far. I haven't had a chance yet to go through it all, I'm hoping this weekend I will. Have you done any craft fairs yet?
  • Hi Leslie,
Gilmore shows put on a nice show in your area. their Spring show is April 3-5 in Greensboro, at the Coliseum. There are 300+ exhibitors there, so a lot of info can be gained by talking to the artists and checking out their displays. This will be my 4th year there and can recommend.
