  • I'm using an LG 7 that was a special deal from AT&T. Cost me nothing except for the additional phone line required on my service contract. Got it over a year ago, the new chip reader came in a couple months ago and works okay with it.
  • My spouse was talking about a ipad so I read this... That galaxy looks sweet and hundreds less!

As mentioned, it is oddly not mentioned in the square list https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5584-devices-compatible-wit...

Someone asked a similar question on sellercommunity.com and a moderator said basically a device can be too new to have been "officially" tested but it might work. Then he mentioned there is a 30 day money back guarantee from square haha.

  • My wife and I have been using ipad tablets for years. She just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S2 and it is much more of a value for several hundred dollars less. It has the 9.7" screen with high resolution and a 1.9 processor. Fast and quality. I will switch to Samsung when I upgrade my ipad.

    • Thanks, Greg, I'm going to look at that. I currently have a small Samsung Galaxy 7 tab 2, I think. Happy with it, but I can't update to handle the new square. My husband is thinking more about Apple because he's afraid we could get another tablet that doesn't have updates.

      • I'm not sure what updates you are talking about with regards to Samsung...but Samsung always has numerous software and firmware updates available on their website. Just google Samsung updates and you will see

        • Thanks. I looked and cannot find mine. My husband and I spent a bit of time looking earlier.

I called Verizon and they said that mine cannot be updated. When you go into the tablet setting, it says there are no updates.

Our son bought it for us, so I don't know if perhaps he got an inexpensive version to get us started using the square. We did run it for 2 years.

          • Hi Greg,

I looked on the square site list for compatible tablets, and did not see a Galaxy S2.

I looked at a Samsung tablet in passing by one last week, 9.7 screen, and liked the looks of it and the price. Also, my husband is now up for another Samsung instead of an Apple- yay!

Do you know if your tablet supports the wireless square device?

I'm sorry if I'm asking you to repeat yourself, I have not read all of the threads on squares and tablets.

            Thanks again!

            Judy

            • Our Samsung tablet is a Galaxy Tab S2...their newest model and it works flawlessly with the Square devices. Great tablet and a great price. It was originally $499 and is often on sale for $399 (what we paid)

              • Thanks, Greg, I really appreciate your help.

                Plan to shop soon.
