Hello from Princeton NJ

I am new to the world of art fairs, and am so glad to find a blog site like this. I'm sure to have a million questions...
Here's what I do--
I combine photography with quilting and sewing--how's that for a mix? I print my nature photographs on dupioni silk, quilt that image, then finish the edges to complete each quiltlet. These are framed or mounted as wall hangings, or as decoration on various types of useful and lovely fabric items (small bags, book covers, zip purses, pillows) that I've designed. My process has come into being over the past three years, experimenting with techniques and materials, trying this, trying that, and as far as I know, it is pretty unique.  While out and about (walking my dogs in the beautiful central NJ forests and farmland) I began seeing twigs in the shape of letters of the alphabet. Now I have the entire alphabet, and I can lay out and photograph these twigs to "speak" inspirational words to quilt, along with my nature photos--I call them Twigs that Talk.
After doing quite well in a local  juried show last November, I decided to launch out into the big-time. I'm committed to doing three shows in April--Artrider at Morristown and Lyndhurst, and Rose Squared in Westfield. Is there anyone here who will be at any of these shows?

  • Welcome, from a former Jersey kid who moved to the country. But I still go down there a couple times a year to do Chester, Flemington, and Edison.

I'm happy to say you have something unusual and most of all different than the others at the shows. And that's a good thing.

Ask any questions you have. There are many who will answer honestly.
