Art Fair Insiders

Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals

Hi, I joined a few days ago and have already gotten so much useful information.  Everyone on here is so friendly and willing to share information.  It's just like a breath of fresh air. Thank you to everyone!
I have loved art all my life and wanted to get a degree in it, but decided I'd probably starve to death so instead I became an immunohematologist (blood bank specialist).  Now that my 4 children are grown (1 still in college) I decided to pursue my art again.  I was a landscape oil painter in my junior high and high school years and would sell my paintings in the local park to put my self through school.  Now my interest is jewelry making with an emphasis on metalsmithing and enameling. I enjoy painting miniature landscapes  in enamel and framing them in sterling silver to make a pendant.  I've sold at area art shows but like to scale up to bigger shows.
Thanks again and I look forward to sharing with some of you.

Welcome, Lydia,

This is a wonderful place to learn, share and occasionally, to rant, Glad to hear you are following your heart.

I figure life is short and I don't want to miss anything, so make the most of every day. Go for it!

We're glad to have you join us, Lydia.

How wonderful that now you are going to be able to be an artist. I started out as an art major myself but decided that no one can earn a living as an artist so switched to social work. Lo and behold years later I met a man who was an excellent photographer and I spent almost thirty years running his business exhibiting at the nation's art fairs! Who knew?

My thoughts are that life is long and it is never too late to learn new things.

Now tell me, I feel an serious urge to go to Mexico very soon and just came across a trip that is both surfing and yoga near Puerto Vallarta. Should I go?
Hi Lydia, welcome to the group. I am not an artist but everyone here lets me play with them anyway. Love your earrings. Hope you will be showing in the Chicagoland area this summer. I would like to see more of your work.

Enjoy.
Hi Connie,
If you like surfing and yoga, by all means go while you're able!

Thanks, Geri,
I have never been to Chicago, but would love to do a show there someday. I'm glad you like to be around artists, we really are a fun group to be around.

I agree, and I've just joined too. I've already gained much from reading, and I LOVE the friendly vibe! Looking forward to more, and to contributing as well. Thanks to all.
