Just done a couple of weekend shows in HOT temperatures on paving and wondered if there were any thoughts on heat dissipation? We have a Lightdome - love it, but no roof vent, and heat builds up quite quickly if there is no shade (as there wasn't).
In the past when there's been a single row of booths, like on a street, it hasn't been an issue - we use mesh walls so rolling up one outer wall did the trick - but this last weekend we were boxed in tightly on 3 sides with no chance of opening anything up?
Wondered if a roof vent - as in the Finale, Showoff or Trimline would help - or if there were any other thoughts anyone might have.

I have a Trimline with the vents and open them up first thing in the morning to help dissipate the hot air. Two years ago I purchased two Coleman tent fans and hang them from the top of the tent. I'm still on the look out for a couple of solar powered tent fans. I wish one of the tent companies would make some!! Hint Hint!

I use 12 volt RV fans from Walmart, last batch were $12.95 each. I have six of them I keep on hand. One goes above the flip bin and two others are on the other side of the bins. They can be set to blow in one direction only or they can be set to reciprocate.
I'll use two in the back for us, and the remaining one is kept in the back for reserve depending on how hot it is. Customers have stood in front of these fans with arms up looking rapturous at times, and more than one has commented I was smart to have fans. The longer they stay the better the chance of selling something.
I use two boat batteries and this will drive all the fans and two 300 watt equivalent LED lights all weekend long. One battery will run all the fans for two days. My tent is an EZ-Up frame so the fans clip into the cross x-struts out of the way but close to the customers.
Another artist on here suggests using a 10x10 tarp as a ceiling in your booth to keep the warm air contained in the top of the canopy. Those are cheap enough to give it a try.
Thanks Robert, the fans make a lot of sense, but not sure the 'ceiling' appeals - if there was an exit for the hot air, perhaps - but if the body of air between the roof and the ceiling heats up and can't dissipate at all, I can't help feeling it will most likely end up as making it worse.

All I can say is my canopy is indeed cooler with the ceiling than without it.

There are numerous battery operated fans that are available. I know that Home Depot sells the Ridgid and Ryobi models that run off of a rechargable 18v lithium battery. The high amp batteries last the longest on a full charge...
They can easily be recharged in 20-30 minutes. They will run most all day long on a full charge. With both you will also need the batteries and chargers that add to the cost. I use a lot of battery operated power tools in my shop and have several chargers and about a half dozen batteries and the same batteries operate a variety of power tools and fans

Thanks Greg - I have seen these in operation and they will make a difference - but really curious as to how a vented top would help(?)...
my Trimline has a vent on both front and back that I have opened fully on hot days. It did not make that much of a noticable difference even when the tents were not cubbyholed together and that is why I have 2 fans. A breezy day will help some but I never know when it will be windy or dead calm...My pop up tent has no vents whatsoever...so the fans are a lifesaver when I use it...
