Any ideas on what to make of this show? It is sponsored by Thunderbirds, 3 day show will be at Gilbert Civic Center right in the middle of downtown, I believe it is a first time show. Gilbert is a young fairly wealthy growing area. It is the same weekend as the Tempe Festival of the Arts, but I have heard a lot of negatives about that show. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • There used to be a small one day show located at this Venue called the Gilbert Global Festival. I did that show a couple times and it was descent for a one day show. I'm local so it was worth it. It was put on and promoted by the City. The good would be that the venue is located about two miles south of historic downtown Gilbert, which is currently undergoing a rapid revival. It is full of restaurants that draw the locals out for a bite. The tough part is the show was not really visible from the main road, which has tons of drive-by traffic. I don't know if TB will be able to get anymore visibility due to how the buildings are situated, but it is likely they will have a greater number of artists than the GGF. I think they should of kept it a 2 day show, but competing with Tempe will be tough.

    • Thanks for your thoughts Joey. I'm gonna do it and see how it goes. I checked out Tempe last year and was not that impressed, and I have read so many negative things about it from artists on this site I was a little gun shy to try it. Maybe next year if this Gilbert Show lags.

      • I'm considering it as well since Tempe turned me down yesterday. I think promotion will truly determine foot traffic. Tempe has typically been a very solid show for me over the past decade. I have found booth location to be one of the bigger factors in my success and of course weather. However, I am not sure how the new promoter is going to impact my ability to get into the show in the future. I was turned down for both spring and fall this year. That has never happened in twelve years of applying.

        • Interesting........I will look you up if you end up doing it.
