Did anyone else submit an application for this show? It is not listed on Zapp, but rather on Callforentry.org. Their original date to notify artists of acceptance was May 13 as it states that in the application, but they've now extended their application deadline despite the email I received back from the show director saying they got more applications than expected and thus need more time to jury.

I think this is a little goofy. Maybe they've notified others of acceptance and I'm just one of those people they don't want to accept until they've exhausted all the other possibilities. Still, I say either accept or reject and stick with the timeline stated in an application. It works best for everyone that way, really.

Anyone else? THANKS!

  • I just reviewed my SPAM folder and discovered the INVITATION TO EXHIBIT in the Cheyenne Arts Festival. I review SPAM everyday, so that email is from yesterday. The status on callforentry.org has not changed. It still says Jury Round 1 in Progress. But the email said that the show would be sending more details in a few days.

    • I just never go to my spam folder -- but this does sound look good news for you, Barrie. Hope the rest of the details from this show come through in a helpful and timely fashion.

  • Red flags waving on that IMO, but that is after two glasses of wine after 3.75 hours take down at Estes Park,CO.

    • I didn't apply to either Estes Park event despite gearing up to do so for the September show. Something just kept me from doing it. I don't know why, maybe I thought expenses would be pretty high? I dunno?

      • We finished the 3-day Estes Park Art Market yesterday. I will post a blog review of it shortly. It was another good one but it seemed a little down from last year. I need to review numbers. I missed my financial goal of $3K by $21. More later.
    • Seems like Cheyenne would be a good town for a western leather guy and his gal, Richard!

I don't really understand their process, because for a few days right after the acceptance notification deadline time the deadline to enter the show changed to ROLLING. I've never seen that before. I contacted the director by email on May 19 with a short query to ask if we'd been accepted or not and he responded quickly that they got more applications than expected and thus needed more time to jury. Then they extended the deadline to June 17. The original deadline to enter the show was May 9.

We usually guess that shows extend their deadlines so that they can get more applications. Is there a valid other reason for extending the deadline? They've extended theirs five weeks! Do they really need that much time to jury? NOT BLOODY LIKELY!

      • You are right on that -- deadlines are extended to get more applications, either because there aren't enough to fill the show or the quality of the apps they've received aren't up to snuff.
