An Introduction

Hi everyone. Connie asked me to introduce myself. I'm from Elyria, Ohio (30 mi. west of Cleveland). I make jewelry and recently began working in mixed media. I'm not real good at talking about myself, so this is a short intro. I have a wonderfully supportive husband and 3 great dogs. I'll be lurking and learning here, and I'll share shows that are worth telling you nay or yea about. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Connie, how'd I do? And can you please tell me what a "tag" is? I am not up on social networking sites.

  • Hi Lorene, welcome to the site! I don't think you're the only one that has difficulty talking about themselves. I think there is much to learn from everyone here on the site, so don't hesitate to ask any questions. What kind of dogs do you have? I've noticed that at every show I've been to there is some great dogs to meet alongside the artists. I have a tri-colored (chocolate, tan, white) cocker spaniel named O'Malley. She loves car rides too. I hope you find the site helpful and enjoyable!

  • So glad you're here, Lorene.

The "tag" is what you would add at the bottom of your post that describes what the post is about. This makes it "searchable", so that say someone goes to the search box at the top of the page and searches for "craft fair", then all the posts with that "tag" will come up. Something more specific like "Florida art fairs" would yield that result.

This site requires that when you use a tag that has several words, like "mixed media painting" that you put the whole phrase into quotes so it can read them as a phrase. If you tag it as mixed media painting without the quotes it becomes mixed, media, painting. Not good.

The invite thingy is a little goofy too. Basically it is asking you to go to your address book and add anyone with an aol.com or a gmail address. It is much easier just to ignore this and send individual invitations to your friends.
  • Ah! Thank you. That makes perfect sense to me.
I'm still trying to navigate. I'm still working out the invite thing. When I click it I'm given a screen with e-mail "@" addresses that don't apply! I'll figure it out. I'm not ignoring anyone's invitations!

Welcome. I love seeing new people join this forum/site. I have been on this site since this past Spring and I love it too. If you ever have any questions definitely post them. There are some great back (past) post discussions to check out in case you are curious.

A tag I believe refers to how you would categorize your post regarding so if anyone is searching for info it will bring them to your post. For example you could post - new member, mixed media, jewelry, social networking. However it could be any number of key words.

  • We have two littermates - border collie/lab/shepherd/keeshond mixes, and we have an English Mastiff who will be one year old tomorrow! How many Chow Chows? They're such pretty dogs.
