Around 3pm the skies let loose over Jazz Fest...Rain, lightnin and thunder caused the show to end a couple of hours earlier than the scheduled 7pm.

We had a couple inches of water in our booth but nothing as bad as out in the infield that is all grass and mud because jazz Fest is held in the Fair Grounds Race Track.

The Contemporary Craft Section where my booth was is on the outside perimeter and on cement...so it drained quickly.

  • A good thing the craft show booths were not set up in this area! Hope you pulled it out, Greg.

My favorite rain story was in Austin. That show was called Laguna Gloria (a biggie at the time). It was set in a lovely park near some water, maybe near a bayou ... rain ankle deep in our booth and snakes swimming in neighbor's booths ...

    • Connie...That photo was the rain on Saturday...Sunday was just as bad with the rain starting around 10:30am and went non-stop all day. The only positive was that it stopped around 7pm when the show ended...so the load out wasn't in the rain.

      • Was it purple?

        Any memorials? Toussaint?

        • I could not hear it if the did since the Contemporary Craft section was not neat the main stages

  • OH MY GOODNESS!!! We have faced rain at craft shows but nothing like that where it's knee deep.

  • :O  Wow, that is crazy!  I'm glad your booth drained quickly. How was the day going before the squall?  Hopefully there were good crowds and sales prior to the storm and early shutdown.

    • Had a few sales prior to the storm but today appears to be another rainy day and if that is the case i don't anticipate a big finish... I'll know at 7pm tonight when the show ends...because you never know.

  • And I was complaining about the rain at Cherokee Triangle today. Nope, I have nothing to complain about after that photo =8-0
