Galena Mardi Gras Design Contest

Open to all artists in the IL, IA, WI tri-state area.

The Galena Mardi Gras Planning Committee is looking for artists interested developing artwork for the 2011 event. The competition allows artists to use any reproducible medium (painting, drawing, photography, collage, etc.). All entries will be on display at the Galena Welcome Center September 28 – October 11, 2010. Artists will have the opportunity to put their pieces up for sale while on display. A panel of judges will decide the Grand Prize winner.

The Grand Prize, or Design Award, winner will receive $500 cash and the opportunity to auction their winning work at the Krewe of Carnival Gala in Mid-March. The winner will also receive recognition included in all usage on promotional items and marketing materials and the artwork will be on display in the Galena Welcome Center through March 11, 2011.

The group is also offering three awards of $100 each for the People’s Choice. These awards will be determined through public voting during the Galena Welcome Center Exhibition and will be announced October 11, 2010.

Artists who wish to participate should download an entry submission form at VisitGalena.org. Artwork needs to be submitted in person to the Galena Welcome Center, 123 N. Commerce St., Galena, IL between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, September 25 – September 27, 2010.
